Since 2011, the Somali Community School has been organising Musabaqah Al-Quran and iftar on annual basis during Ramadhan as a platform of uniting refugees from various countries, people on migration and the Malaysian locals. It is an effort basing on Al-Quran as the medium of unity and to ensure the teachings of Islam itself is close to the hearts of every muslim in the community in the spirit of the month of Ramadhan.
Last year, the Musabaqah was joined by 75 participants from 13 countries namely Somalia, Palestine, Syria, Iraq, Yemen, Algeria, Morocco, Mali, Nigeria, Maldives, Singapore and Malaysia. The program was conducted in 2 days with the last day being held in the hall of Masjid Sultan Salahuddin Al-Ayubbi in Taman Melati, Gombak. The event was ended with prize giving and closing ceremony together with iftar with the community.
This year it will be held from 11 to 13 July 2015 at Masjid Sultan Salahuddin Al-Ayubbi, Taman Melati, Gombak. The participants are already starting to register for the Musabaqah. The event will be handled mostly by the community and assisted by volunteers from various platforms. Any individual, company or organisation is welcomed to sponsor and be part of this event.
